Theodore Roosevelt

President

I am an imperialist. I think we should capture the Philippines. Also, the protection of our international interests requires a powerful and efficient navy. By capturing the Philippines, we can expand our country even further. If the Filipinos refuse, we shall fight back. We should also have a naval base in the Subic Bay. For if we do not have that station, or a navy there, then we can at least abandon the Philippines at once. In order to be imperialist, we must have a large army to support ourselves. We need back up for when we capture the Philippines and I plan on creating a strong, hardworking navy.

My reasoning is that we need to expand our country. We need power in order to become a super power, and what better way then to capture innocent land? By gaining power and prestige, other countries will step out of our way and we will become a strong country. Also, by having a larger navy, we will be feared and when we do go into battle, we will win. We need to work hard for what we get. By creating a powerful navy and capturing countries, this can be done.
